Then They Shall Fast

It was obvious that in Jesus’ lifetime His disciples never fasted and He never asked them to. They did not have to fast for as long as He was with them – physically. When the disciples of John asked why His disciples never fasted, His answer was, “For as long as I remain with them, they have no need to fast. But after I’m taken away from them, then they shall fast!” Fasting became necessary after His resurrection and bodily ascension.
